Plants for a Livable Delaware
Invasive species has become a much debated topic throughout Delaware's nursery and landscape industry, and across the nation. Viable alternatives to invasives are not always recognizable by the consumer and grower alike.
The DNLA wholeheartedly supports the Plants for a Livable Delaware Program initiated by the University of Delaware in an effort to reduce the use of some common invasive plants by substituting better species that provide similar ornamental and cultural features.
This publication's focus is on public education. Its goal is to assist consumers in making more informed choices. These choices will enable garden centers and growers to phase out invasive plants that are currently in inventory and transition their resources to the alternatives.
