Improving the Green Industry
The U.S. environmental horticulture industry, also known as the "Green Industry", is comprised of wholesale nursery and sod growers; landscape architects, designers/builders, contractors and maintenance firms; retail garden centers, home centers and mass merchandisers with lawn and garden departments; and marketing intermediaries such as brokers and horticultural distribution centers (re-wholesalers). Environmental horticulture is one of the fastest growing segments of the nation's agricultural economy. The Delaware Nursery and Landscape industry is truly a GREEN industry with the environment central to its existence. The DNLA promotes environmentally sensitive landscape policies to its members and supports efforts of the University of Delaware and Delaware Cooperative Extension in educating homeowners about sustainable landscaping. The DNLA has worked to develop appropriate drought restrictions that preserve existing plants and conserve water appropriately in the event of a drought. Through the DNLA Plants of the Year Program, the association promotes great plants that are well-adapted to Delaware's environment.
DNLA is a proactive GREEN organization!!!
